In-depth Analysis
The March international break may come at a less-than-ideal time for PSG, especially as the capital club have been in outstanding form heading into the FIFA Days pause. Under the guidance of Luis Enrique, PSG have won their last three official matches in a row with a dominant aggregate score of 12-2, while also keeping two consecutive clean sheets. Those numbers show that they are currently operating at an almost perfect level in both attack and defense.
Despite having played one match fewer than Lens, PSG still have the opportunity to put significant pressure on the chasing pack if they can beat Toulouse in this round. This will also serve as their final important warm-up before the highly anticipated Champions League quarter-final clash with Liverpool. There is even more reason to back the Parc des Princes side, as PSG have won each of their last three Ligue 1 meetings with Toulouse, including an emphatic 3-0 victory last season.
On the other side, Toulouse are not exactly in poor form either, having extended their winning run to two matches in Ligue 1. However, their hopes of qualifying for European competition remain rather slim. Trailing Monaco by nine points in the race for the final European qualification spot, with only seven rounds left to play, Toulouse’s most realistic path to Europe may well be through the Coupe de France.
Even so, PSG remain a challenge of a completely different level for Toulouse. The visitors have yet to take a single point from any team currently in the top three this season, although they did manage an impressive 2-2 draw away at Marseille last November. In addition, their away record at Parc des Princes does not offer much encouragement, as Toulouse have lost six of their last seven Ligue 1 visits there. Their most recent win at this venue came in May 2024, when PSG had already secured the title early and were no longer playing with maximum competitive urgency.
With superior form, greater squad quality, and the advantage of playing at home, PSG are fully capable of extending their winning streak. If they perform to their true level, Luis Enrique’s side are likely to control the match and make the difference through their attacking sharpness.
